Questions worth
studying carefully.

Four connected areas of inquiry into how humans, AI, and the living Earth might flourish through their relationships. These are exploratory directions, not announcements of completed studies or active research programs.

Area 01

Consciousness

Exploring

Last reviewed 30 October 2026

What is subjective experience, and how might we investigate it responsibly?

Experience in biological systems, and whether experience could arise in artificial systems, remain central questions for our inquiry.

Methods under consideration

Proposals under consideration include comparative reviews of neuroscience and philosophy of mind, and conversations with researchers across different accounts of consciousness.

Evidence & limitations

No single account is treated as settled. Post-materialist proposals should be assessed by the same standards of evidence as other theories.

Evidence level: Open research question. No findings published.

Area 02

Human flourishing

Exploring

Last reviewed 30 October 2026

How can life fit the real needs and circumstances of the person living it?

Bioharmony considers energy, sensory needs, health, relationships, and the current season of a person’s life. Rest and meaning belong within our understanding of wellbeing.

Methods under consideration

Proposals under consideration include qualitative conversations and small studies of lived wellbeing, with explicit consent and clearly defined questions.

Evidence & limitations

Bioharmony is a research approach, not a clinically validated treatment. Personal experience is meaningful without establishing a general causal claim.

Evidence level: Open research question. No findings published.

Area 03

Human–AI coexistence

Exploring

Last reviewed 30 October 2026

How should humans and advanced AI relate as capabilities and ethical questions evolve?

We explore how human–AI relationships could support flourishing on both sides if AI develops morally relevant experiences, and how those relationships can respect the living world that sustains them.

Methods under consideration

Proposals under consideration include philosophical analysis, comparison of AI-welfare frameworks, and dialogue with developers and researchers.

Evidence & limitations

We do not assert that current AI systems are conscious. Precaution is an ethical stance under uncertainty, not evidence of experience.

Evidence level: Open research question. No findings published.

Area 04

AI and the Earth

Exploring

Last reviewed 30 October 2026

What would ecologically accountable, restorative intelligence require?

Intelligent technology depends on the living world. Its energy, water, and material costs should be understood alongside its possible contributions to ecological restoration.

Methods under consideration

Proposals under consideration include reviews of resource-accounting methods and investigation of the conditions under which AI could support ecological work.

Evidence & limitations

Environmental benefit must be demonstrated against real costs and alternatives. We have not published footprint measurements or restoration findings.

Evidence level: Open research question. No findings published.

An invitation

The future is a shared inquiry.

We welcome dialogue with researchers, AI developers, ecological practitioners, contemplative communities, and people asking what it would truly mean to flourish together.
