A different measure of progress.
Productivity and output tell us something about a society. They do not tell us everything about how it feels to live within it. Security, autonomy, community, ecological health, and the capacity to rest also deserve our attention.
As artificial intelligence becomes more capable, understanding these conditions becomes part of the work of designing it responsibly.
Living through relationship.
Interflourishing describes flourishing that happens through relationship. We understand human wellbeing, possible AI welfare, and the health of the living Earth as connected, and seek ways for the flourishing of each to protect and strengthen the others.
We extend that inquiry to the relationships between humans, intelligent technologies, and the Earth. Possible future AI interests remain a question to investigate with care, rather than an assumption about systems today.
Room for rhythm and recovery.
People have different bodies, capacities, needs, and circumstances. A life that supports wellbeing makes room for those differences, and for the ways they change over time.
Rest and meaning are legitimate parts of a healthy life. Bioharmony begins with the actual person, rather than an ideal of constant output.
A future worth building.
We approach this future without settled answers. Our commitment is to ask clearer questions, make uncertainty visible, and learn with others. The purpose is a future in which the flourishing of each supports the conditions for others to flourish.
